Advice

Although all of the information we have available to us regarding our products is on our website, many customers ask us if we can give pre-sales advice on specific issues regarding the health of their particular pet.

In accordance with our company policy, we do not give any advice on any products where such advice would be more accurate and specific coming from a Veterinary Surgeon or other appropriately qualified person who has examined your animal.

You should be able to find out all you need to know on our website which contains a great deal of up to date information regarding our products. You also may find it helpful to search internet forums or to post specific questions on these forums concerning your pet. But do bear in mind that we cannot be held responsible for any answers and/or advice posted on forums and please note that no free public forum can ever replace the specialist advice given to you by an appropriately qualified veterinary practitioner.


Purchase Billing and Currency

When buying from this website you will be billed, through WorldPay’s secure system, by Actigener (UK) Ltd whose name will appear on your Card Statement.  Actigener (UK) Ltd is the owner of the Quistel Brand.

All our prices are given in UK£ Sterling so when your card is accepted by WorldPay you will be charged in your card’s local currency with the sterling value of your purchase.

All our Credit/Debit Card payments are handled with the highest security by WorldPay (a division of the Royal Bank of Scotland) on their secure servers and we do NOT, therefore, have any access to any of your Credit Card or other sensitive information.


VAT Exclusion - for Deliveries to be made Outside of Europe and to the Channel Islands

Our system is not currently able to automatically process orders excluding VAT. If you wish to purchase our products and have them delivered direct to your address outside of Europe and the Channel Islands without being charged VAT, please email us and we will issue you with a unique personal code which, when entered at the checkout, will deduct the VAT. As we use Royal Mail and ParcelForce there is no VAT element in the Delivery Charges, so these will not be reduced.

To qualify for VAT-free purchasing, it is the delivery address, not the cardholder address which triggers the deduction.


Privacy Policy - UK Data Protection Act 1998

We only collect the minimum information required to process your order, protect ourselves and customers against fraud and provide you with the service you have requested.

We will only use the information supplied by you lawfully, in accordance with the United Kingdom Data Protection Act 1998.

The information we collect from you will comprise:

  • Credit/debit card details (obtained by secure means and only used for completion of orders and neither collected nor stored by us).

We do not ask for nor attempt to obtain by any means any other information about you whatsoever.

The contact information and address details you supply are for our use only and we guarantee no information will be passed to anyone else. 

We will not collect and hold on record any other sensitive information about you without your explicit consent.

The information we do hold will be accurate and held securely in accordance with the law and our own internal security policy and kept up to date and will relate to your purchases and associated correspondence only.  You can check any information that we hold about you simply by contacting us.  If you find there are inaccuracies we will correct them promptly.

We will not transfer information provided by you outside the EEA (European Economic Area) without first obtaining your consent.

We do use technology which monitors the IP addresses of visitors to our site to assess which pages on our web site are the most popular and for use where fraudulent activity has taken place. We do not use technology to collect personal data or other information.

EMail Policy

You will inially receive emails from us in relation to your order and/or in response to other correspondence or dealings with us. We will email you from time-to-time with updates on our product range and with special offers. Your email address will, however, never be disclosed to any third-party.

You can have yourself removed from our email list at any time simply by clicking the Remove Me button on any marketing email we send you, fill in your email address and put the words Remove Me in the subject line and you will be removed promptly.

Security Policy

We take very great care to ensure that any personal information you enter on the Quistel website is kept safe. The following section explains how we keep your data secure.


Security Technology

Before you type in your credit card number and details, our website has automatically moved you to WorldPay in secure mode. When you're submitting details to the WorldPay's site over the Internet, security is handled as follows:

  • First, when your browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) connects with the secure side of our server (website computer), that connection is between you and the server alone.
  • Second, the information you're sending will be encrypted before it begins its journey over the internet to that part of WorldPay which relates to quistel.com. This ensures that it can't be read by anyone else while it's in transit. In other words, during the communications between your browser and the server, the information is scrambled. This is known as encryption and our encryption is 128bit. 128bit encryption uses billions (2 to the power of 128) of possible combinations to scramble the information. The enabling technology is called Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL for short.
  • Third, any information we store internally so we can process your order, is kept on a computer system that operates independently of the web server and uses the most professional security to stop all viruses, hacking etc.

In summary, we've taken the appropriate measures to ensure that your personal information is not unlawfully processed. Quistel uses industry standard practices to safeguard the confidentiality of your personal identifiable information, including "firewalls" and Secure Socket Layers. Quistel treats data as an asset that must be protected against loss and unauthorised access. However, no information transferred over the Internet or wireless network can be guaranteed to be completely secure.


Why do screen prompts tell me I'm being transferred to an insecure site?

It's Quistel's policy to use a secure protocol whenever personal information, such as card details, are being displayed or entered. When moving from these secure pages to unprotected pages, your browser may warn you of the fact.


Why does a screen prompt tell me my security certificate is out of date?

A certificate is a piece of software that your browser uses to encrypt your personal information when it's being transmitted to and from the Quistel Site. The message you're getting is probably erroneous. It's usually caused by older browser versions that don't process date information correctly. The solution is easy. Upgrade your browser to a newer version.
